Yow! But they're only in this thread. Should have known better than to have a quick trigger finger on April 1. Something we'll eventually see everywhere, Matt?

It's for identification purposes. I didn't see the thread progress, but it looks like Matt added them in so that nobody could really pull off an identity theft.

I'm also assuming that it prevented people from sounding off "anonymously" under the geise of joking around, and the fact that I'm thinking that makes me kind of sad.

right, I just did it to cut off any shenanigans prompted by Michael's original article.

I also wanted to do it to show people that I am keeping track of all this, and if it comes to it, IPs will be shown for all.

I like the IP adresses, i was confused as to why they were showing up in one thread and not the others. It's all clear to me now.

Yeah, but as I pointed out, here at my office we all get NAT-ed by the firewall, so if everyone in my office posted to MeFi, it would look like we all had the same IP address.

At the very least, that gives some agent provocateur a degree of plausible deniability.
