Trust your gut. Is this 'comeback' funny, true to the man?

And because this has been driving me crazy, but I don't want to start another Metatalk thread... During the big amazon.com camera fiasco, did people actually get their cameras for the price of the camera bag?

Apparently, the guy died, many years ago.

No one got the cameras, amazon cancelled all the orders that got through.

so, "we have cameras" is a myth. i'm so dissapointed!

Maybe the cameras will mysteriously arrive in the mail, twenty years from now.

It may be a myth, quonsar, but it's still damn funny.

On-topic: We probably would have heard about it if Andy returned from the dead, dontchathink? I'm guessing there was some sort of tribute, maybe some woman-wrestling, and everyone went home with a tear in their eye.

Ooh, while we're asking follow-up questions, I have two:

I saw from a recent comment that Mayor Curley is getting married, so I'm assuming his girlfriend accepted the proposal - but what ring did he choose?

And limitedpie, did you have your girl yet and what did you name her? Did you go with Jasper?

What's the conclusion to anything in life?

[ But it can be fun along the way, of course. ]

Or, for special folks out there :

Big fat worms.

i still want to know if littlemisscranky's husband was cheating on her.

I suddenly feel better. The Great MetaFilter Camera Giveaway (which happened while I was forcibly kept offline) has been declared a myth. However, I DID get a Free TiVo and 3-years free web hosting by following MeFi.

Unfortunately, my pony died in the mail.

And that guy claiming to be Andy Kaufman returning form the dead? He's really Elvis.
posted by wendell at 11:52 AM on May 19, 2004

I got a free TiVo thanks to MeFi and Kottke.

andrew cooke - I'm too lazy to go searching for it, but I believe littlemisscranky reported back that all the secrecy and strange things going on were due to her husband's father having an affair.

What, you guys don't set your VCRs?

Here's a follow-up that I don't think has gotten a fair enough answer:

Would quonsar or would quonsar not lend his opera CDs to 111?

I got a job that I wouldn't have known about if it weren't for metafilter.

'Cause that's been bothering me since, like, thread 6 or something.
