Blogdex Ranking August 2, 2001 8:10 AM   Subscribe

I'd just like to point out that blogdex lists MeFi as the Number 4 All-Time Linked site on over 10,000 blogs. The first three are all blog-creation or blog-hosting sites, so I guess that makes MeFi really the #1 community site. but we knew that, didn't we ;-)

Nothing the tiny wireless camera pill can't fix, I'm sure.

what is the "who" link supposed to do?

It lists every blog that links to that site.

I have a suspicion that Blogdex's sample is skewed. Do you really think that MeFi is linked to more often than SlashDot? (I bet SlashDot does fifty times as much daily traffic as MeFi.)

also, steven: of course the sample is skewed. it's about weblogs, not websites.

And...mostly Blogger weblogs at that.

I think some sort of index like Blogdex would be a lot more useful for trend-tracking if it could distinguish between static and changing content. I'd be a lot more interested in knowing what people have posted to their sites in the past few days than in who they always have linked in their sidebars.

It does both. Go look.

Unless I missed it, I think the Blogdex site would be a lot more useful if it had a search function. (I can't tell if I'm even on the list, let alone where. The idea of manually searching 16,000 entries is not attractive.)

The day before I was listed at #5, The next day I got tired looking for myself beyond the 2500th most linked range. I suspect the real stats are starting to find their level. It is kind of depressing, I got 700+ visits, and it seems unlikely I will ever get that much traffic again, so I have already had my busiest day ever. It is all downhill from here.
