Could AskMe get an XML feed like the main site? Pretty please with a cherry on top?
Whoa. Disturbance in the force.

Could MetaTalk get a search function where this sort of question might have been asked previously?

This is great in-the-wild user testing. I put the RSS feed for ask metafilter only in the header as a link that RSS readers can pick up automatically. It's subtle, but anyone pointing a reader at the site should pick it up.
But even among the technically savvy, folks are expecting to see a fat orange button somewhere saying so. I thought the subtle path would be enough, but it clearly isn't and is causing the confusion. I'll add a link to it on the site, in HTML.

While we're at it, could we get a link to AskMeFi in the nav links at the top of the blue?

mathowie, thank you. I assumed that if it had an RSS feed, it would be advertised as it is on the front page.
Hume was right, logical induction does not always work.
I did make a search, BTW, but did not find the previous posts. I do apologize for the blunder.

Bloglines didn't see it, right now this subscription page says "No feeds were found. Please verify that the website publishes an RSS feed."
That means that not only is Bloglines ignoring the link tag, but no other Bloglines users found the feed.
I blame the lack of a site navigation bar in Firefox. If I had that I would have found it on my own, but I also blame the lack of ketchup supplied with my lunch on that too, so take it for what it's worth.

thats because your subscription page is trying to subscribe to metatalk, not ask metafilter. metatalk does not have an rss feed.

Firefox does find it though. A big RSS button shows up on the bottom right of the page, in the status bar.
Not that it's very useful, since Firefox's support for RSS pretty much only uses the titles as bookmark links, and the titles in this feed are useless ("Question 1443").
