since this morning i'm getting a parse error for the feed http://xml.metafilter.com/atom.xml (ff live bookmark feed)... but not for http://xml.metafilter.com/rss.xml (xml feed link in mefi sidebar)... just me (and/or my sage reader)? or is it a bug?

Atom feed. I've been trying to cobble some code together that'll do interesting things with the atom feed here but most times it comes up as mangled (Firefox says the same too). Any one else having problems? Any chance of it being fixed?

Has anyone else noted that as of this morning NetNewsWire Lite (Mac OS X RSS reader) can't parse Metafilter's RSS feed?

Unfortunately all I get from the app is "The XML parser could not parse the RSS data." It worked yesterday, though.

There seems to be something wrong with the MetaFilter XML feed. I only get "posted by 'whoever »', time and date, and # of comments". Also the XML page says there is an error.

I think I'll press the 'XML' button and see what happens ... what does 'An invalid character was found in text content. Error processing resource 'http://xml.metafilter.com/rss.xml'. Line 14, Position 152' mean?

Alright, I've found the MeFi XML stream, now how about the MeTa XML stream? Search the MeTa comments and couldn't find anything... thanks in advance.

Hi. I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature request... Why does the XML feed at http://xml.metafilter.com/ strip out any HTML (namely links) out of the nodeValue of the body elements? Why does the feed at http://www.metafilter.com/metafilter.xml provide a synopsis and a link to more while the previously mentioned feed shows the complete text (it also strips out HTML too)? Boy, it'd be nice to implement some XML-RPC functions for common tasks (posting, logging in, etc.) and spice up the XML feed so that a developer could build a different client for MeFi...

an xml threaded metafilter with structure based on the dewey decimal system. whenever you make a post or comment it fits it into the big picture. your xsl transformation(s) output based on criteria chosen like dates of submissions/comments, terminology, subject, or other criteria the client can select using a gui/web form, or their own custom xsl stylesheet.

The MetaFilter RSS feed is broken. I just was wondering how you were populating the RSS, and got a malformed XML error. You have a stray "&" in one of the descriptions. Also, the "title"s aren't very title-like: "comments on 9412". Just FYI.

a tiny problem with the rss feed -- some xml parsers (particularly expat, the parser used inside mozilla and perl's XML::Parser, require that the '' appear at the very beginning of the file. it seems like an overly strict reading of the spec to me, but there you are. kudos for adding the feed, in any case!

New feeds of MetaFilter are available.

There's a handy deepleap plugin

and a pure xml feed of the 24 hours of headlines (currently cut down to ~50 characters in length but I feed the entire post).

I'll whip up a RSS/RDF channel soon and put it at my.netscape, my.userland, or meerkat.

So on Matt's site he's got "Today's MetaFilter" with a list of new stuff here. Is there a chance of this data being published in XML (or whatever format) for other to use?
