Where to post an AskMe followup? October 5, 2004 7:56 PM   Subscribe

I apologize two-fold, one for my unwilling absence from the scintillating minds that are my MeFi sisters and brethren...and secondly, because this may very well be the wrong arena, but darned if I know where to post AskMe follow ups...so here it is. A month or more back, I asked for advice on taking a specific type of pictures. The advice that I was given, both online, and in one case, carried into email, was invaluable. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who contributed. You not only made me a better photographer, but you taught me a new way to see.

You had me at hello.

Dejah - does this mean you're not locked in the wine cellar resting anymore? Those zombies don't seem to be much for dispensing advice.

Can I make a suggestion, dejah? I think you should make the same post (more succinct, and link to this thread, if you like) at the end of that original thread, in the interests of continuity. There's been some discussion that it would be nice if those who asked questions would provide some feedback afterward, and yours sounds like a great example to encourage that.

BTW, it was relevant and helpful to me, as well. :)

The thread is closed. He can't add this post there.

Do we get to see the photos?

I'm going to repeat myself here: Dejah for President

Oops, good point; I missed that when I went back to double-check it. One of those cases where a 30-day window is too short, I guess.

But he is actually a she, so we're even. ;)

Ah, thanks gang, I missed y'all too. :)

tdismukes, Winifred has broken free with the aid of her loyal gardener Tzu...but has yet to regain the estates...but she expects a triumphant return sometime around Halloween. ;)

pmurray63, yeah, it took me a long time to actually get around to building the light tent, and then using it.

y6y6y6, you may if you go visit Soapy Hollow (quite obviously a self-link). The site isn't finished yet...I'm still working the bugs out, need to put the shopping cart together as I'm only taking orders via email at the moment, and I need to go clean up all the extraneous MS code that Frontpage generates. (Yes, I know...I know...but it's still the fastest way to do complicated tables in wysiwyg.) But I have a couple of shows this week and next, so I need to have *something* at the domain name, even if it's not finished.

The only thing I haven't been able to get good pictures of are the glycerin soaps...those bad boys are tres resistant to being photographed. They start to sweat under the lights really fast. I may have to jury-rig a light table and light them from beneath or something, I dunno. I may just package up a big ol' box of soap and send it to you and let you figure it out. ;) Then I'll have pictures worthy of advertising the site here on Mefi. :)

Matteo: To quote General Sherman: "If nominated, I will not run; if elected, I will not serve." I have way too much common sense to be a politician. Also, I remember most of my past...and the parts I don't are probably even more incriminating. ;) Pretty much, the rule of thumb seems to be that if there are pictures of you naked, juggling fire while tripping in the middle of a Rainbow Family Gathering...you're not really likely to be a contender in the political game. (Now...if I were in Italy... ;)

That noise you just heard was the sound of the simultaneous deflation of the political aspirations of every Green Party member.

That Green Party sure sounds like a hell of a fine bash.

I'm also one of the folks who benefitted from that particular AskMeFi query. Lots of good information there.

So, I second Dejah's thanks; my photos have been markedly better thanks to you fine folks.

Lastly, good luck on your new venture, Dejah; your products look great.

And remember folks: Do not eat soap. We know it smells really good, but please...don't eat the soap.
