With so much Bush on MeFi, maybe it's time to start bush.metafilter.com? October 8, 2004 2:35 PM   Subscribe

There are 32 instances of the word Bush on the MeFi front page. How about we start http://bush.metafitler.com? Or maybe just take over BushFilter?

I take personal responsibility for this. My intervention, though meant to be ironic, was obviously taken far too literally.

I don't think it matters anymore armoured-ant. I think even if Kerry wins this election MeFi will continue to be dominated by political posts [though for chrissakes i hope they are less in number]. I lose most of the non-political stuff in the wash. There is nothing we can do about it except go into link overload mode and have every active non-politically-hardon prone member post ANYTHING non-political on a daily basis.

Honestly? Waiting three weeks and change for it to just blow over won't kill you, and the American election is going to be the event with the biggest impact on the world over the next four years. Those of us who really enjoy all the political discussion are very much enjoying this.

Do you think this might be related to the fact that there is some sort of debate thingy going on tonight?

Give it up armoured-ant. The only person who could change the political overload is matt, and he's not going to do it (not saying he should). Some people live for this crap. The solution? Get their own blog. But no one would read it. So here they stay.

What Ryvar said. Also, I support the idea of using categories for Front Page Posts, and the idea of letting users opt out of any category they don't want to see.

I don't get much out of the average "Bush is bad" post, personally. The flip-flops one had great content, but that's pretty exceptional.
