Unposted Anonymous AskMes on contacts page November 22, 2004 1:01 PM   Subscribe

I, like many people, have added Anonymous AskMetaFilter as a contact, due to his/her interesting, thought-provoking, often sex-related questions and complete self-restraint when it comes to making snarky comments.

However, I noticed a weird phenomenon. On my contacts page, I see several anonymous questions that link to deleted/nonexistant posts. These do not show up in "Anonymous AskMeFi"'s posting history, and I never saw them on the AskMe page. Did they ever appear on the main page? Is there a reason they are still visible from my contacts page?

I assume they're anonymous questions that didn't pass muster, though I guess that doesn't make sense as I would think there would be plenty more. Maybe they're ones still waiting in the cue to be approved?

Whichever... wtf? Why would someone post "anything to do in X" and "I want to buy a black sweatshirt" as anonymous? The mind boggles.

louigi, I don't know what you're talking about. I've seen almost all of these on AskMe at some point in the past, and they were all asked from a legitimate Anonymous poster. I think the pr0n website one is the only one i missed, but i can see why it never made the cut. Btw, AskMe Anonymous is my spouse, so back off, bitches.

You might want to have a little chat with AskMe Anonymous, then, naxosaxur, as I'm its sweetheart.

naxo, you live in a fantasyworld. :)

Try clicking on "view thread" in Louigi's third link. More than half of the Anon ones lead to non-existent ("You've stumbled...") pages.

If some of the deleted posts did in fact appear, I can only assume the explanation is that matt changed his mind about their anonymous-post-worthiness. If that's true, it's probably just a bug that they're showing up anywhere at all.

By talking to all the people who've met, slept with, are married to, fathered/mothered or work with Nony AskMe, we should be able to figure out who this person really is.

Damn, I wanted to see the slush pile!

A sneak peek into the anony-me slush pile was fun, but much less exciting than I would have imagined. Why would someone ask "what are fun things to do it Pittsburgh" anonymously? Maybe they're cheating on their spouse (who also reads MeFi) with a lover in Pittsburgh while they're supposed to be on business in Seattle...

None of the questions were too-sexy-for-ask. Damn.

Yeah, aside from a few clearly illegal posts (which I completely deleted), a lot of stuff that doesn't get into Ask MetaFilter is just totally tame.

Actually, I'm kind of disapointed the white-discoloration-on-shirt-creases one didn't get through, I have a shirt that suffers from the same problem which is very annoying. Could whoever posted that repost it with name (it's nothing to be ashamed about!) and save me the effort?
