Would have been cool to make my front page debut commenting about this post, but it appears my new user probation is currently in effect. I plan on taking a look in person as it is happening only 30 minutes from my TG Day location.

I didn't realize the new user probation affected commenting on existing threads. Is this the case? I thought you could comment as soon as your account was active.

Indeed you can. Posting to AskMe is fine from the moment of registration, and to MeTa as well, I think. So is commenting anywhere. It's only FPP's that are locked down until you've been here a week.
