Hitting back erases question preview December 6, 2004 6:53 AM Subscribe
When you're previewing a question in AskMeFi, it tells you to hit back on your browser to tweak the question. When you do, the initial text you wrote no longer appears in the box. (Or is this just me?)
Which browser are you using? This sort of thing usually happens when the form page is secure but when it is not it shouldn't happen.

JuiceCake - I'm on IE6.0
Mayor Curley - Eh. Well, at least that answers the question. ;-)

Doesn't happen to me in IE 6 either so I'm afraid I'm unable to help. Try Firefox or another browser just to see if it behave differently perhaps. Other than that, take a look though IE's browser settings, such as security, cache, etc. and you might find something there. I don't use IE except to make sure some pages I develop work so I've lost my knowledge about the various settings within the application.

this often has to do with the caching settings on your so-called 'browser'. try this:
under Tools | Internet Options | Temporary Internet Files | Settings, under "Check for new versions of stored pages" check the box titled "Everytime I start IE".
this should force IE to show you the cached page you've partially filled in, as opposed to requesting a "fresh" copy of the page from the site.
still, this doesn't always work, and i've fallen into the habit (on ANY site, on ANY text entry that i've put a lot of work into) of highlighting and copying my work to memory before hitting any submit button.
lots of other folks compose thier posts elsewhere - notepad, etc, and simply paste them into the text box whole.

Thankfully, so do I. But it's just something that I noticed this morning and wanted to make sure it wasn't a broken feature...

I think this should have been posted to AskMe, with successive iterations of deranged "who am I? Who am I writing this for?" rambling.

Don't hit the back button. Hold down alt, and press the left arrow key.
