Request for NSFW/gross image self-policing April 11, 2005 11:07 AM Subscribe
Is there anyway to not post NSFW images, or gross images, maybe like blood splurting from the chest of George W. Bush, etc?
You are being real, as in actual blood. Ketchup grosses you out?

We can't pile on someone unless you provide a FPP as evidence.

Or I suppose you could post one of those images yourself and we could tie the whole thing up with a bow, it would be neat and self-contained like peanut butter crackers.

Yuck, the bucket guy might be right, I think we need to do some spirited self-policing here.
I proclaim in advance of any down thread beefin' that it is always better to favor guidelines and rules of thumb rather than rules whenver possible, thus let us not ban image posting (used sparingly) and instead take dude who posted it aside and say, "Please to tone it down with the simulted gore and Dick Cheney as a chest-buster (burster?) imagery."
Or else just pull back and ban the guy from orbit, it's the only way to be sure...

...anyway to not post NSFW images...
Is there anyway you could not split infinitives?
I agree on the concept, however. This place isn't that other place that begins with F.

I think it might be time to pull the img tag altogether. You can link to images just fine, though of course they don't have the same impact.

I think that images in metatalk are fine. In the blue, not so much.

I guess I think that surfing the Net is NSFW in and of itself and that the responsibility for any consequences belongs to the person doing the surfing.

NSFW in the same way Roadrunner is NSFW maybe. If we pulled a tag every time there was an unfunny comment...

Of the many images I've seen posted on mefi, only a vanishingly small number have added anything to the conversation but noise. I wouldn't miss 'em.

Is there any way you could refrain from pedantry held over from the rules of Latin grammar?

And this is why the image tag has to go. Your (the generic and unspecified "you") lack of basic consideration for others living in the real world - that's why we can't have nice things.

That's a lot of assumption, I think, gd779. The real world is a world in which surfing the Net at work is not generally part of the benefits package and in which discretion while doing so is always advised. Debating whether or not the image tag is good for MetaFilter may be a worthy topic, but the idea that MetaFilter has to be work safe seems naive and smacks of entitlement.

I don't use the image tag, because I'm too stupid. I've got a great picture I'd post here too: it's this girl, and she's in this bathtub...
