Did it get posted? July 18, 2005 9:21 AM   Subscribe

The last few times I've made an FPP, I've hit 'Submit' and it's pointed me back to the homepage...without the post. I hesitate to try again because I don't want it posting twice. I realize this was just discussed but I wanted to see if anyone had had a similar experience recently since the bug seems to remain.

I just refreshed the homepage after a few minutes and it's there. Hmmm.

I suspect that the homepage is cached at a small-but-noticeable interval to save horsepower. You could probably access your post immediately via the URL (if you knew the number).

I noticed that in AskMe the other day, but figured it was something along the lines of what mkultra said.

happened to me as well, don't worry, the post's usually there in the end, unless Jrun ate it but the odds are just so very small.
just open another tab, wait a minute then check the front page again. your post's almost always there.
I also make a copy of what I post, HTML and all, right before I hit submit, just to be sure -- I strongly reccomend that you do that too, and you'll be OK.

Thanks guys.

Any ideas/suggestions, mathowie?

I just made a post to the front page of MetaFilter and it worked fine. I can't reproduce this on MetaFilter or MetaTalk.

On Ask MetaFilter, I need to make a small fix.

Ah, I think I've found the problem. Let me know if it happens again on MetaFilter.
