Only 6 FPP today, only 10 yesterday. Why? July 17, 2005 11:08 PM   Subscribe

The slowest day for MetaFilter in recent history? Only six FPP today. Ten yesterday. What gives? Summer started?

MetaFilter had the Jruns most of the day.

JRun confirms: Metafilter is dying.

Because there's no more best-of-the-web left?

...yeah, and no offense to delmoi, but that nanny-blog (non)story was everywhere yesterday and for no good reason. I've never seen such a non-story in my life. It's like watching some customer argue with a fast-food cashier or a toll-taker or any other kind of serviceperson over something utterly meaningless, except this particular bitchy customer works for the NYT. Good lord. May my turmoil with the domestics never be heard shrill 'round the world.

was the jrun server dead all that long? I could have sworn I checked in every few hours all weekend and the worst was sunday, when it was probably down between 5-9pm.

To tell you the truth, Dreama basically has my reason.

*looks around sheepishly, then Jruns for the hills*

We reached the end of the internet.

[I checked in fairly regularly on Sunday and never saw Jrun.]

Maybe people just went outside and enjoyed the weekend? And didn't bring the laptop!

what is this "outside" you speak of?

mathowie writes "was the jrun server dead all that long?"

It was down a lot or was really a slow it seemed on sunday. Have you got a process in place to automatically restart? It seems like the last couple weeks I'll get a JRun and then 5 minutes later it's back up. Or is it just personal vigilance?

You must have seen it; the big blue room with really good resolution.

I wanted to post something on the front page the other day but I didn't want to interrupt the stream of "Murlims suxxx" FPP's, so I posted it on metachat instead

I'd leave a comment here, but I can't because I went outside in the sun.

I think probably we've found and linked to all the interesting content on the web, and nothing new has happened recently.

matteo has a point. i can't get to my computer much of the time because hordes of muslim immigrants have filled up my house. apparently.

I have installed windscreen wipers on my monitor to cut through the thick layer of muslim immigrants.

I hear muslin immigrants are very soft.

According to my newly-neocon mother, the U.S. is on the verge of becoming a Muslim state. So I was off obeying the call to prayer. Plus getting my burqa hemmed!

is that the famous "HAWT FOR QUONSAR" burqa or the other one?

I still have this really cool FPP I am going to do about nectarines and their influence on country music, so no. There is still quality stuff out there. I did get a sunburn Sunday though...
