In which case I'd think it was safe.

I forgot that rusty lives on Peaks Island; a friend of ours was just there. Wonder if he's been to the Umbrella Cover Museum (I got a key chain!)

Wow, Rusty lives on Peaks. Its almost like having a real, live, cel-eb-re-tee right in your back yard.
Jeez, commish, we coulda done some meetin' up. Or didja just not invite me...
If he didn't invite you, then he didn't invite me either.
I've been saying there should be a Maine (or perhaps "Northern New England") meet up for some time. Perhaps Portland in September? Anybody but you and me in for that I wonder?

I was going to guess April Fools too. Heck, I wouldn't even be here had it not been for the Met4filter.org stunt.

I had actually forgotten all about this -- both the domain and the fact that it was pointed at MeFi.
The domain I originally bought for use as a BoingBoing mirror site which would allow comments again. As obnoxious as they were, I still miss the comments there. Obviously, I haven't gotten around to doing that yet.
As for why it's pointed at MeFi, I had to think for quite a while about that. My best guess is that at some point in the past there was a DNS issue where mefi worked, but the domain name wasn't resolving. I believe I got fed up and pointed a spare domain at it so I wouldn't have to remember the IP.
I can't swear that's what happened, but it's my best guess.
That whois info is at least one address behind, and it's pretty common knowlege that I live on Peaks, so I don't really care about it.
Also, Live preview! WTF HOWIE! You kids and your Ajax and Comet Cleansing technologies.

Goddamnit. The live preview doesn't use AJAX, just DHTML. AJAX is an obnoxious enough term without people making it even broader than it needs to be.
I'm reminded of my tech support days. Back then, apparently a PC consisted of two parts: "the computer" (the monitor) and "the hard drive" (the tower or desktop chassis). ARGH.

Plutor: I've taken to calling anything that doesn't require a page refresh "AJAX". It's fun to embrace and extend new marketing buzzwords!

The specific link, http://www.boingesque.com/mefi/43532 , even uses the /mefi/ convention. I don't visit the reduntantly named namesake and I haven't whois'd it.
What gives?
