WTC filter exhaustion September 22, 2001 9:54 AM   Subscribe

Much as I wish to be informed about what's going on with current events, I *really* wish we could focus on life for a little while. Now I know this has been talked about here before, about posting non-WTC links, and I'm attempting to do so, but I wonder what other options there could be. Maybe a http://wtc.metafilter.com? Or a 'WTC' check box? What can be done short of matt saying 'chill out homies'?

Remember Nader? There were at least 4,000 Nader posts each day during the election. As much as I love that kooky bastard, the WTC disaster is far more significant than his run for office. Mefi has always reflected what's in the news and on people's minds, and I know, personally, all that's on my mind is the WTC. Three weeks ago I would have loved your Bruce Campbell thread, but now, I haven't even read it. I dunno what I'm trying to say, except maybe WTC links arent so bad.
That being said, EVERY bit of news concerning it doesn't need to be posted. If John Ashcroft farts it gets a post, and that does need to stop.

JC, Metafilter is a consensus work, and the consensus right now is that most people want to talk about the WTC bombing. You, unfortunately, are in a minority.

Things will simmer down a bit. I'm actually interested in the more personal, internal part of this debacle: how weird NYC remains; the tragic loss of, literally, thousands of childrens' parents; going to a Mets game; the quiet of the subways. I'm not looking forward to my trip on the SI Ferry Monday for work.

During the election and now, the idea of a "politics.metafilter.com" was floated to deal with this kind of thing. It does seem like it might be a good idea.
