What does mrblondemang have against bloggers? August 12, 2005 7:24 PM   Subscribe

What does mrblondemang have against bloggers and others who write for a living or seemingly just because? Perhaps RodgerJ should beware.

There's nothing wrong with some healthy skepticism toward "pro" bloggers. Now, some of the hostility could be toned down, for sure.

But since when do we analyze trends in somene's behavior on this level? The guy doesn't like pro bloggers. He thinks kottke is a douche. So what?

He does have anger management issues, but I'm not too thrilled about this callout.

Find the original Kottke thread and you'll find he's not even close to being alone.

What? It's against the rules to be anti-blog? Go back to China, you damned commie.

Meh. Sorry, the over the top response in the Ebert thread resonated with me and taking a look at the posting history revealed a pattern. It's not the first time someone has been called out for this kind of stuff.

From the Topic: etiquette/policy page:

Wondering what should or shouldn't be posted on MetaFilter? Think someone went too far? Talk about it here.

Close and tell me to shut my yap if need be.

Naw, I see where you're coming from. Reading those comments one after the other is definitely a cringe-worthy experience. No one's saying he can't be anti-blog; it's just the cussing without discussing that doesn't sit well.

I wouldn't dream of questioning his right to state his opinion but that level of vitriol directed at total strangers because they happen to write on the web is just plain creepy. I'd hate to be this guys neighbor and play the wrong music.

I'm not big on the 'A-list' blogging thing myself but it's not like they're doing anything to hurt him. I can hardly even remember the last time a weblog popped up in my browser all by itself, these things generally require a bit of user interaction. For someone who loathes weblogs mrblondemang seems awfully familiar with the names.

Who knows why anyone does anything? Maybe he tried being a writer and wasn't successful.

Maybe Kottke stole a link from him once.

Also my first guess.

Heh. I think he doesn't understand what kind of writer I am... Or that my personal blog is on the Z-list.
Still, a call out? Dollars gets doughnuts he doesn't read the grey.

Damn writers. They ruin everything. I hate writers. And bagboys at the supermarket. They're pretty annoying too. You know who else I cant stand. Forklift operators. They have such an attitude. I think it's becauser they get to sit so high. But mostly I hate writers.

Damn writers.

He's not even the most vitriolic blog-hater who hangs out on this blog, though he is pretty nasty. He's not (as far as I know) going out of his way to email people he perceives as being a-listers so he can berate them, so he has that going for him, vs. some others on the blue.
