It's time for another collection of Metafilter Music!

There is so much music here. Here's the annual torrent of all the songs from Metafilter Music, gathering everything from 2012. There were 558 songs, taking up 3.1 gigabytes. Massive, massive props to all the musicians who shared their music! Check it out, and remember, the song threads never close, so if you find a song you love, please drop by and let the artists know! WAREZ

Copyright... we've all followed the various debates, and we know theres all kinds of morally ambiguity and grey areas and stuff involved. But where there isn’t much grey area at all are sites that are explicitly for the warezing of mass quantities of digital media. Could we not link to them or offer them our breathless support on the front page or use the site for the swapping of invites for them? Plenty of other places for that. Thanks.

dimeadozen.org, a torrent site, requires signing up for an account. Would it make a good post?

I just found a site, dimeadozen.org, that I think might make a good Metafilter post. It's got torrents of tons and tons of live concerts. (I'm listening right now to the Tom Waits show in Nashville that I saw last weekend.) The problem is that it requires you to sign up for an account, and there's a limited number of account slots available each day. Would this still make a good post?

MeFi admin double standard for posts?

At the same time that mathowie posts a site hosting game ROMs from the 1980s, my link to a BitTorrent file of a 1950s and -60s recording of a 19th century classical work was removed. Funny ol' world...
