... that is all.
This app, MetaReader ("an unofficial client for MetaFilter"), is a paid app and (at least under ios7) DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. It crashes on launch. I recently got a refund from iTunes. I did contact the seller via email and twitter two weeks ago and even sent a full crash log in an email but haven't heard anything back - which is why I asked Apple for (and got) a refund. I decided to make a meta to warn others because I am no longer listed as owning the app - because refund - and so can't leave a review on itunes to warn the unsuspecting. [more inside]
We made a few changes to the modern theme today. At mobile widths, the Skip button is now no longer the Skip button—it's an arrow pointing down. At tablet/iPad widths there's a new similar down arrow button in the fixed header that appears as you scroll. And behind the scenes we enabled Grunticon as a fallback for older phones that don't have SVG support. [more inside]

A lot of people have complained about FanFare's professional white background. Well, DRUNK WITH POWER after somehow kludging together a successful CSS theme for /r/MetaFilter with zero experience, I decided to try my hand at giving our new subsite a makeover, too -- the layout is fine, but that glaring white is painful to read in a darkened teevee room. Inspired by the original soothing dark blue color scheme from film/TV review aggregator Metacritic (which discarded it for an unpopular redesign years ago), I put together a complete FanFare theme (screenshot*) that adjusts not just the background and text, but stuff like visited links, link hovering, the pop-up video button and lightbox, posting page notes, live preview area, and the sidebar and Deck ad box. You can install it in Firefox (with Greasemonkey or Stylish), Chrome (with Stylish or Blank Canvas Script Handler), and jailbroken iOS (with Userscript Loader, using this URL) -- it's tested and working properly on all three. For the past six months I've been tinkering with a set of unofficial apps for MetaFilter. When I started this project there weren't any official apps on the horizon and except for an odd 3rd party iPhone app I couldn't find anything else so I decided to explore the problem on my own. [more inside]

When I use MeFi on my iPad (a first year model, non-3G variety), and do anything from search to post a comment, I am prompted to retype my login credentials, even though I am already logged in. This started about a month ago. This doesn't happen on any other devices. Help?

I just got an iPad (the 3rd gen/newest one, if it matters). In Safari, when I hit the back button from a MeFi post to the main page, I am always taken to the top of the page, instead of where I was last reading. Am I doing something wrong? I don't have this problem on my iPhone.
