Nancy, a Chrome extension for Metafilter
After the enhanced update of the diediedead Greasemonkey script, I received several requests from MeFites for a native Chrome extension, mostly because Chrome's Tampermonkey doesn't support all features, such as the context menu. I promised and, finally, I deliver: Nancy, available at the Chrome Web Store. Yeah, kind of a mouthful. [more inside]
Killfile scripts?
What are the currently functioning killfile scripts and where can they be found? I see threads from 2005 or 2006, but it's unclear if there's anything newer and/or if those scripts still function properly nowadays.

Can I killfile someone?
How can I filter out responses from a particular user on Metafilter? Will it work on Mozilla 1.7.x or must I use Firefox? [more inside]
Greasemonkey Killfile
Here's a little Greasemonkey script that filters out posts by any users you don't want to read on Metafilter (if you use Firefox).
If you want to use it, download Greasemonkey and restart your Firefox if you haven't already. Then click on the first link and then the Greasemonkey install button on the top right hand corner.
By default, it only filters on single Mefi article pages, not on preview or on Metatalk, but you could easily change the Included Pages. By default, it filters out ParisParamus and dios as users but you could very easily download this to your local drive and edit it -- or I'd put up any other variations that were useful (or even come up with a way for you to edit preferences from the program).
This was fun. Was it a good idea? Discuss.

Greasemonkey Killfile
Since some users previously indicated an interest in the capability, I've made available a Greasemonkey script which allows users to either highlight or filter out posts on Metafilter and its site siblings, based on conditional matching of text strings or patterns (author or content). Use it as-is or extend/morph the code for your own projects. Caveats apply: 1) this is very much a limited-test release 1.0 script and 2) though a professional coder, my eye for design elements ranges from mediocre to bad. To forestall the hypervigilant, this is a self-link and a pointer post was OK'd by Matt Haughey.
Can we have a "Newsfilter" prefix?
I'm sure this must've been suggested, but I've read a lot of the Newsfilter Debate threads, and I can't recall specifically seeing this. If and when someone has a Newsfilter link, could the prefix "Newsfilter:" be a cue for a killfile that would block such posts from appearing on the front page for those who wished to avoid same? I for one find threads like Miers' withdrawal (even with only a one-sentence link) both appropriate and inevitable here, but I can see how others would not. If such a killfile existed and posters played nice, could this be settled once and for all?
Welcome to my killfile.
Killfile script available
Ok, as mentioned here, there's always interest in a killfile script. Well, I just finished the one I've been working on (with help from Plutor) and it's available here. What makes mine worth it when there's already a script out there? Well, [MI]
Request: a way to filter out particular users.
Hi, would a "filter user comments" option be a lot to ask? There are a few users who just never really say anything useful or contributory, and I think if I could just filter them out it would be nice.
Killfile request
I don't know if this has been mentioned or suggested before; but, regarding all the talk of 'stupid posts' and 'useless comments' --- what if matt built in an "ignore this user" feature? Then all posts from that user would never appear on your screen, all the comments would be blanked out with " *** this comment ignored ***"; or you could have your choice -- ignore posts but not comments. And then you could have a user admin screen that lets you see everyone you're ignoring. that way, you could periodically check and see if they've gotten better and you don't care to ignore them anymore.
again, i don't know if this has already been discussed. i searched for it but couldn't find anything. just a thought.

A user longs for killfiles
I'm sure it's been mentioned before, though I couldn't find it in the "view all days" view---even so I'd like to renew any request for a "don't ever bother me with this user's posts again" toggle. Much as I hate it I think comments should be left alone for continuity inside a thread, but blocking links would be good. There's no way to *make* people stop messing with the s/n, but if I don't have to see them doing it I can pretend.
(It's so easy to make these requests, it's not MY time and I don't even know Cold Fusion. heh.)
