More Compassionate Advice
I've noticed in a couple of AskMes that the answers/advice being given can really be harsh sometimes. Especially when the person asking has maybe not been their best selves. Reading through a thread can seem like a pile on. I'm wondering if this is truly helpful. [more inside]
Something good. Something Happy.
Feel free to share something good. Something happy. This is a space for positive vibes. Reminder to be kind to others and yourself. Love and good thoughts being sent your way. Stay calm, be careful, and remember to practice good hygiene. :-)
TREAT YO SELF 2020!
End of another long week, let's carve out a space to talk about something other than politics for those that need that space. Let's talk about the nice things we do for ourselves. What's something nice you've done for yourself lately? Maybe you set some time aside to read a book. Or went for a walk and left your phone behind so you could clear your head. Or you bought that small bar of chocolate at the impulse aisle of the grocery store. Maybe you had a drink or a smoke to relax at the end of a long week of work. Whatever it is, I'm sure you deserve it. Feel free to also talk about something nice you've done for a loved one as well. As always, be kind to yourself and to others. TREAT YO SELF!

Whether you celebrate St. Valentine's Day or not, let's make this a space to send love to one another. That includes yourself, your partner, your family, your lover, your neighbor, anyone and everyone, we are all worthy of love and kindness. Feel free to share how you're celebrating or not celebrating. Also, a reminder that chocolate is going to be super cheap and on sale tomorrow. Happy St. Valentine's Day!

Random Acts of Kindness
End of another long week, let's carve out a space to talk about something other than politics for those that need that space. Let's talk about random acts of kindness. I just read this news story about a woman who let a stranger ahead of her in line while shopping, the stranger repaid this act of kindness by purchasing some of her items as a thank you. What are some random acts of kindness that you have experienced yourself? Maybe someone bought you a cup of coffee. Or passed on a parking ticket that still had time left on it. It could be the dinner that was paid for without your knowledge. Whatever it is, in keeping with the holiday spirit, let's talk about those random acts of kindness that surprised you. Don't forget that this includes being kind to yourself. Cheers.
MetaWhatYouLikedAboutToday
It's the middle of the week, let's break up the doldrums. Tell me what you liked about today. Something you did, something someone else did for you, a photo, a cloud, a puppy you pet, whatever it is, just something you liked about today. As always, be kind to yourself and to others. Cheers.
Unexpected Kindnesses
In the wake of gman's death, I have been thinking about how unexpected kindnesses and generosity have improved my life and the lives of many others. I find such stories inspirational and comforting. Have you had such an experience? Please share your story.

There was a shooting in a Florida high school today, it is still a developing story and I'm sure you can seek out that news should you feel so inclined. I want this post to just be about love/kindness/friendship. Maybe you did something special for a loved one, or a family member, a friend, or a complete stranger. It might be a smile you received or your holding the door open for someone. Whatever it is, feel free to share it with us. I just wanted a place for us to connect, we're in this world together trying to get through it all. It may be strange to say, but I love all of you wonderful and crazy MeFites. Be kind to each other. Happy Valentine's Day!
You're awesome MetaFilter. Best of the web indeed!
There have been some amazing posts hitting the front page lately and I just wanted to have a place to say thanks. Also, it's an excuse to have a thread where we can just be positive and nice to each other. You're awesome and I like this place and I'm always finding something new and interesting. So thank you to everyone. Those who post and those who comment. And even those who lurk. :)
Remember: Everyone needs a hug.
At the bottom of every post on MetaTalk thread is the topic of this post. Be kind to other Mefites and practice empathy. [more inside]
