Happy February 1, everybody, and welcome to get-out-of-jail-free double posting month, in which everyone is invited to repost the best of old posts from the archives, either yours or someone else's. Here's how to do it: [more inside]

I'd like to offer a challenge to our community. Many of us are experiencing Politics and especially Trump fatigue. Some days the flood of bad news and wtf-ery seems incessant, depressing and endless. When I check the Metafilter archives, I see every day of the month except for the last day. In other words, no September 30, no July 31. Has anybody else noticed this?
It would be nice if the archives showed every past month, including all of the posts in the *current* month. Unless I'm missing something, at this point in time, the only way for me to see posts from the beginning of August is for me to change my preferences, and I most definitely don't want to set my preferences to "view last 30 days" just to see posts from the beginning of the month while the next month approaches.
