The discussion in this Meta about reader-friendly Mefi pages had a side discussion about reader view and how it's not very consistent across sites. I suspect that Matter (an iOS read-it-later app) uses reader view and I've noticed a discrepancy: posts from Mefi Blue are saved with both the post and the comments, but posts from AskMefi only have the original question, no comments. I haven't tried it on other subsites yet, nor do I know how this works with other read-it-later apps, so if others can chime it that'd be great!

A month or so ago, I emailed Marco at Instapaper noting that MeFi and AskMe pages render in Instapaper without comments. A member of their support team was nice enough to look into it for me and, from the looks of how posts now render, you should now be able to read posts from across the site on Instapaper. Small pony requests: Can the Questions tagged with pages also include the best answer checkmark next to threads that have best answers? And maybe use the standard "X comments" link instead of "View this thread" by each thread?

View all comments/posts by this user. Some time in the past six months (possibly very recently), the "View all comments/posts" interface has changed. Instead of being an enormous page, referencing every post made (sometimes into the thousands), the big list is now split up into batches of 50. [This is good] - it's a no-brainer way of reducing server load. That said, could there be a way of viewing every post on one page?

When you show all comments by a user on Ask Metafilter, the pages after the first show the wrong range of comments. For instance, this page says it's showing comments 101-150, but it's really showing comments 1-150. It works fine on the blue.

Would it make sense to spread the comments on user pages over multiple pages in batches of 100 or 200 comments per page? Right now loading a page listing the user's comments in MeFi or MeTa takes a while to load if there are tonnes of comments to list.

The floating 'other blogs' palette does not work well at all in MSIE 5.0/Mac. When the home page first loads, it shows up on the left side of the page, obliterating much of the text of the links. Only when the page is finished loading does it move to its proper place on the right side.

Then, when paging up and down, the palette only draws down to about halfway through the "kottke" link. Yuck.
