mefiscripts github repository
Mefites use a bunch of userscripts, stylesheets, and bookmarklets to customize the site, but we don't have a place to collaboratively maintain them. What if we had a shared Github organization where authors could contribute their scripts for community maintenance? I've put one up over at github.com/mefiscripts/mefiscripts, and if folks think it's a good idea I'd love to have you join. [more inside]
Parsing Metafilter comments
I'm submitting this as a feature request, but I'm not sure that's the right category. I have difficulty parsing the comments in a metafilter thread. It's the way it's laid out, with the comment followed by the poster's name and other information:
Is there any way I could change it?I'd rather see it parsed differently; prioritizing the name of the Mefite, followed by their post (in quotes, maybe?), then the remaining information. Something like this:

Mefi Bookmark
Is there any sort of script or add-on that will allow me to bookmark my place in long threads, so I can go back to exactly where I was? I use Firefox and have Greasemonkey.
HowlsOfOutrage lives again, expands
Due to a couple of recent MetaFilter user requests to return it to working status, I have updated the popular (6K+ downloads on userscripts, more elsewhere) HowlsOfOutrage Greasemonkey script. The script displays a popup window of all users favoriting a particular MetaFilter post or comment on mouse hover over the favorites text. In addition, I've updated the Chrome extension, and added a new Safari extension. Testing was successful, but not exhaustive. All completely free as always, natch. [more inside]

Greasemonkey hacks
Grease my monkey, guvnor: Greasemonkey scripts get talked about a lot in Metatalk comments, and they seem pretty useful. I would like to ask our more Greasemonkey-oriented friends to recommend the best ones and discuss their experience of installing and using them. [more inside]
Script that numbers comments?
Which Greasemonkey script shows comment numbers for each comment in a thread? [more inside]

!click and reload ...
About the (fabulous) 'X new comments, show' function: I can't say enough good things about this, as it makes following long threads so easy compared to the old system of having to reload. But why not take it just a small step further - instead of making us click to load them, why not just have the script go ahead and load the new comments when they are detected? (Maybe a user preference?)
How to open youtube in MeFi posts?

Script that explains new favorites on old things
Is there a greasemonkey script that lets us see why old comments have been favorited? [more inside]
On MeFi, everyone knows you're dog.
Greasemonkey: here's a script that displays profile pics next to posts.
Cortex warned me some people will hate it and want to roast me alive. To those people, let me suggest a side dish of Potatoes au Gratin and a glass of Merlot. [more inside]

Is the Mondo Meta Options Greasemonkey script making Recent Activity a slow load for anyone else? What else can be used to killfile? [more inside]
I know I'M slow, but Metafilter?
In the past couple of weeks, whenver I load a fresh copy of the Blue it takes a couple of seconds for all the links (in posts, profiles, etc.) to start 'working'. Once or twice I've gotten an error message that says "Scripts are taking a long time to load, do you want to continue loading them?". What's going on? I'm a Vista user, but as I said it's only been for the last couple of weeks, and it doesn't happen in AskMe or MetaTalk. I ask here vice in an email in the event it's happening to others...
Detect Deleted Deletion Detector
For over a year or so I've had a very handy java script application in my toolbar called "Detect Deleted Metafilter Threads" that finds the hidden axed threads. In the last few weeks it stopped working. Does anybody know why or if there is a new working version?
Reading Deleted Posts
My old method of reading deleted posts (so sue me... it's entertaining) doesn't seem to work. I used to use the following javascript I picked up somewhere (inside):
Is there a new way to do this?

Greasemonkey script displays picture next to username
Ever wondered wonder what that user looks like? I've written a quick greasemonkey script that adds photos of users next to their usernames. Photos were gleaned from meetup pictures and there are currently about 75 photos in the database (Firefox only).
If you do not have Greasemonkey, you can install the script by clicking here. If you have Greasemonkey, right click here and hit "Install User Script".
I'd like to know what you guys think.

Writers helping each other?
Wondering if any of MeFi's up-and-coming screenwriters / tv writers are planning on entering Nicholl or Austin this year and if they'd be interested in helping each other punch up their scripts. (Feedback from the working pros is appreciated as well, of course.) {more}
Writing a script for linkless posts
So proflinuspauling said in his linkless thread:
Maybe you can all "think out of the box" for a second here and not freak out if there is one stupid comment with no links. I just thought you all would have interesting insights.
The thing is, if there is "one stupid comment with no links" on the front page of metafilter, there will be more. And then you have an open ended discussion space where anyone can say anything they feel like, bounce topics off each other, without having to be weighed down with facts or links or outside information.
So I'm finally going to write the blockage for linkless posts.

I could script my own blogging tool, couldn't I?
It occurred to me today that I could take a simple web discussion board script, modify the interface a little bit, and turn it into a blogging tool. I guess archiving would be a drag, but otherwise it would probably work. Anyone try anything like this?
