Why was the candy bar question deleted? November 16, 2005 10:17 PM   Subscribe

So why was the AskMe thread "must I eat the whole candy bar" deleted?

The original poster in the thread said that he/she asked the question "just for the sake of discussion". Seems like a cut and dry situation of violating the etiquette.

I think it was eaten.

And it wasn't even a very good discussion.

It seems valid to mention this again:

I agree with ColdChef.

If a question is both a) of no practical use and b) is a discussion question with no definite answer, it's just chatfilter and should be deleted. Those kind of things can be taken to Metachat where they'll meet a receptive audience.

What Coldchef said. It would be nice to have a way to easily view deleted posts. Then folks could see Matt's reason. Monkeyfilter has this feature.

I believe this is in the works. I thought the chocolate question was borderline, but mathowie and the flag queue thought otherwise.
