Ask Metafilter's FAQs in a sidebar April 25, 2006 5:13 PM   Subscribe

Just an observation: the question which DSLR to buy comes around so often on the green, with the same answers usually (understandably, but predictably) given, that I'm beginning to think there ought to be a sidebar of such frequently asked questions (or maybe mathowie ought to sign up for an Adorama affiliate program).

Can we get the same kind of oomph for a Metatalk Canon-Nikon debate as we do for the religion threads?

How about a search feature and tag system that allows posters to look through previous AskMes and see if they can get answers without having to post a new question?

The slr tag isn't bad, but a lot of people just use "camera" or "photography", which are too vague and so have too many questions under them.

Maybe Matt or Jessamyn could do some cleanup.

Nice page, blag. I absolutely love this:

Q: What's the origin of the expression...?
A: Some common phrases are references to pop culture. Many, many phrases aren't, and have no traceable origin.

I'll try to remember to quote it frequently.

And what is it that Matt does, exactly?

Why, he sits atop his giant bags of money, of course.
