This just in: The Economist allows subscribers to view subscriber-only articles. But I can't link to them. Anyway.

Maybe you're writing something that explains this thread as I type. If not, or you're asking about linking to paid content, there was a thread not long ago that you might be able to dig out. I think it was one of Miguel's (has he taken his bat and ball home again?).

Sorry, that was kind of opaque. I was thinking of the OED thread, since the goods are available by subscription only. Not much point posting it then ...

However, since I had that tought, Su found an OED link that works. Woo-hoo! That makes it worthwhile.

Sure you can link to Economist.com subscriber articles. Here's one. The site encrypts URLs on entry paths for the login sequence but once you're looking at the article the article ID is clear as day.
