Tag feeds in Ask MeFi don't work in NetNewsWire July 26, 2006 12:11 PM   Subscribe

Tag feeds (like this one) in Ask MeFi don't work in NetNewsWire though they work in Safari. Can anyone duplicate this or offer me a solution?

It's working for me in NetNewsWire Lite. What's the failure mode?

It doesn't validate, though most readers are able to cope with dodgy characters like this.

It works in my NetNewsWire (not lite).

In general, you'll get more useful responses to technical problems if you describe the problem with more specific information than a vague "doesn't work." Does it open and look funny? Does it just do nothing? Does it crash NetNewsWire? Does your computer come alive and try to eat you?

Looks like there's one weird accent character some sanitize code didn't catch before it went to the feed.

Matt, same problem exists with this feed, a dodgy character in a post. I both feeds at the same time and thought it was NetNewsWire-specific rather than feed-specific.

Scott, in general, the problem is exactly as describe: it simply did not work. No more description required, as I can see by the responses that were actually helpful. Don't teach me to suck eggs.

Mo, you must be a pleasure to work with.

Mo, with all due respect to you, you of all people know that you need to explain what you mean by "did not work." Would you bring your car into the mechanic, drop the keys on the counter, and say "it doesn't work"?

Ok, dodgy characters should work now.

Mo, you might have missed that I started my comment by contributing what I could to specifying the problem (following my own advice) in an attempt to be helpful. I was only telling you what makes it easier for me (and some others) to help solve technical problems. I think I'm more an authority than you on myself, so I'm not sure the egg sucking aphorism really works here. But you're the lexicographer and I'm just a web developer, so I'll leave such linguistic questions to you.
