It would be fun to have some sort of halloween contest next Tuesday. The most spirited post would win some sort of prize? What would the prize be? I suggest five pounds worth of candy shipped to the winning poster. What do you all think?
I don't like candy.
Communist.
(actually, I'd prefer beer and a lap dance myself)
and 'spirited?' you want spirited, I'll show you spirited....

I know I run the risk of sounding like a curmudgeon/killjoy/stick-in-the-mud, but honestly, I don't know if I like the precident doing something like this will set. I don't know if I want to see every major holiday turn into some contest.
Plus, the prizing system of sending candy/fruit-basket/beer-and-lapdance to the winner seems like it will be unnecessarily complicated for the admins. With the last contest, all they had to do was electronically send $30 to the winners.

Why not just random candy sent to different people each month? Matt could load up mefi, shut his eyes and click around and then stick his finger on the screen. Closest username gets candy. We'd just have to figure who will send it. Well, and the whore thing. That too.

Send five lbs. of candy to the person at the top of this list, then take their name off and add yours to the bottom. By Halloween, if everyone's done their part, we'll all have 3,125 lbs of candy!

It's up to you wheelieman. Run a contest if you would like. Amazon, Starbucks, etc. gift certificates or cash are probably better than candy as they have a broader appeal, but hey you pick the prize, you pick the winner and we get the benefit of some inspired Halloween themed posts. (A six-pack of pumpkin ale or something might also be interesting but there are issues....)
