Back button does not show my new post November 10, 2001 6:32 PM Subscribe
I noticed recently that now when I hit the back key after posting and get to the original thread screen, I don't see my new post there without reloading. In the past, it updated automatically, and "backing up" to it would find it already updated. Struck me as interesting, and I wonder if this was an intentional change or a byproduct of some other change?
My browser caches everything. If I want the updated version, I just reload the page. Just felt like sharing.

Now I'm scared. Why did my browser start (or stop) caching anything all of a sudden??

Does anyone else use your computer? In Opera, hit Alt+P and check your caching prefs. I think it's under "Internet Options" in IE and, uh, "Preferences" in Netscape/Mozilla. I am guessing, of course.

Cache away!

My browser is doing the same, rushmc. It's also timing out on me, so I can't test my links or go out googling. If I do, when I rush back to continue editing my comment, it times out on me and I have to rewrite the whole damn thing. So do you think anyone still has the patience and kindness to tell us whether we should or shouldn't cache if we want, er, everything as it used to be; meaning no need to refresh or basically do anything?

I changed my cache setting and all is as it was now. Of course, my "new post" count still doesn't work right.

(Miguel--a useful precaution is to copy your entire comment "draft", so if you lose it from the post textbox, it's at least still in your clipboard and you can paste it back in. This has saved me on a number of occasions--and doomed me to the derision of MeFi on others, when it would have been truly better if I had not posted. Sometimes Browser Knows Best.)
