Who wants tickets to tonight's Willie Nelson concert in St. Louis? March 11, 2010 5:05 PM   Subscribe

I have two tickets to see Willie Nelson tonight (Thursday, March 11th at 8pm Central -- yes, an hour from now) at The Pageant in St. Louis, Missouri... and I can't go. I'm hoping a couple of Willie-lovin' St. Louis MeFites can go in my stead. If you're in the area and can make it to the show, please contact me as soon as possible and I'll email you the PDF containing the tickets. Contact information is in my profile.

I'm not in St. Louis, but I think this is pretty great.

Any chance you could get here really, really fast?

Sadly, not fast enough. Good luck finding a taker, though.

I'll bet he opens with Whiskey River.

Alas, it looks like the tickets are going unused. I haven't heard from anyone.

I'm so bummed you didn't, because it was a superbly awesome idea to post them here.

Look at that. You made a coast-loving woman sad that she didn't live in St. Louis. Well played, sir. Well played.

(anybody know of good weekend flea markets or swap meets in St. Louis or north/east toward Niagara Falls that will be open this early in the year?)

Have you seen Willie recently? I'm not saying it's not worth going, but it's REAL close to that point. He just goes through the motions now and it's really, depressingly obvious. My dad is the biggest Willie Nelson fan on Earth (seriously, I have documentation from the President of Earth, Richard Nixon's Head), and he said he almost wanted to leave the last time he saw him, which was about 2 years ago. I last saw him maybe a year before that and it wasn't much better.

My dad was, in fact, prank called by Willie Nelson once. His best friend Tom was friends with Willie's now-departed head roadie, Poodie. So, my dad told his friend that he really hadn't liked a recent album of Willie's, I think it was the one with Dylan. Being old stoned pranksters, Tom and Poodie set it up so my dad got a call like this:

Dad: "Hello?"
Willie: "This is Nelson."
Dad: "Uh..."
Willie: "I heard you said my album SUCKED."
Dad: "Um.. well... I..."

At this point he hears riotous laughter in the background, who he recognizes as Poodie and Tom, and probably a few other people. After he removed the brick from his pants, Willie invited him to come play golf. They're actually still sort of friends, in fact, if you write to the Willie Nelson Fan Club, the post office delivers it in a special separate tub to our store. I could tell more stories about that, but some of them are probably not things I should put on the Internet.

(And if you don't believe me, I could post a photo of me holding my business card with our store's address, which will match the one on his contact page here)

Okay y'all. I feel compelled to share this old photo of my daddy and Willie.

- This was very, very cool even though no one could use the tickets. I've been to bunch of Willie's Fourth of July picnics. It's good times.
