You'd think, after eleven years, we'd have finally figured out how these people got their cats wedged into their scanners, or why. But anyway, Happy Birthday, MeFi!

Also, I've started referring to the date I joined as my Metaversary. If you think this is a good word you can send me a nickel every time you use it. If you don't you can send me a dime.

mephitic

PRONUNCIATION: (muh-FIT-ik)

MEANING: adjective: Poisonous or foul-smelling.

ETYMOLOGY: From Latin mephitis (foul smell).

USAGE: "Jack Black is a sterling example of the actor who starts out seeming like a breath of fresh air, and then turns into something stale, fetid, mephitic, nauseating."
