Elliott's a beautiful name. Congratulations, dirtdirt and family!! Photos are absolutely necessary. I hope everything's going swimmingly.
I don't want to hijack, but congratulations should also go out to Effigy2000 and his wife who just had a baby boy as well! They seem to be going through a bit of a roller coaster, so send them good vibes in addition to congratulations.

Kári reads like female name in some cultures but it's also the name of a viking in one of the sagas who went on a crazy revenge quest all over Europe and killed everyone. In case you want a name that can transcend the gender divide like a goddamn colossus with a battle motherfucking axe.

Congratulations, new parents! And youngest members of Metafilter!
When they grow up, we will have to introduce Elliott to Effigy2000 Jr. (Effigy2011?), so they will become best friends, and meet pretty girls (or attractive young men) together and go on dates and rescue each other from embarrassing scrapes and get into bar fights defending their school/family/girlfriends' honors and generally excelling in Fine Young Men shenanigans.
Until they eventually have a falling-out and one becomes the other's arch-nemesis, of course, but I wouldn't worry because that's years away yet!

Thanks for the congratulations and well wishes everyone.
Edison is doing better now. He's still in ICU but the infection is gone and it seems the jaundice will be completely gone soon. Obviously the heart issue is still around but its something that can and will be fixed.
Since people have asked for pictures; here he is on Day One of his life, and here he is from just a couple of hours ago.

I'd have been on this like stink on rice if I had been closer to my right mind, but I am operating well below normal tolerances due to a couple of extra basically sleepless nights in the hospital. Elliott was a bit early at 35 weeks (but big! 7lb5!), so had to pass a few oddball tests and clear some jaundice - all precautionary and no big deal, but still fairly trying. I can't comprehend what even a little big deal would feel like - Effigy2000 congratulations, and you are in my thoughts.
And, also, congratulations to Dr. Girlfriend!
But yeah! Thanks! Here are a few pictures!
