DNS Trouble January 7, 2012 2:45 PM Subscribe
Our DNS provider is having some problems right now so MetaFilter sites might be up and down for a bit. It seems to be hitting our static server hard, so you might get the sites loading without stylesheets or images until either we or they can work around this. Sorry about the hassle.
According to the EasyDNS Twitter account they're under DDOS attack and will have things working again soon.

Thanks for the heads up pb.

You have to admit, Metafilter looks pretty good without stylesheets. That's some nice markup you've got there.

Matt just retweeted this from nelson: "EasyDNS is down, breaking many sites like Hacker News and Metafilter. Basically it's a preview of what SOPA would be like."

Here are my demands:
1. An edit window.
2. More pony threads.
Your move, Metafilter.

Today at the store, I had a one hour shift of 'greeting' aka welcoming people as they come in and answering questions etc.
This one woman had her three year old son with her and her husband was a few yards away. She was exasperated with the kid about something and said "Go with your father, Luke."
It's not often you get them served to you on a silver platter like that, so I said "Yes, after all, Luke, he is your father."

Yeah, a few. If you're viewing the site in the default theme, the logo in the upper left and the background at the top of the page are images. On Ask, questions with best answers have a green checkmark. Contact Activity on the front page has a series of icons for different activity, and user profile pages have various icons. RSS feeds are almost always marked with an orange RSS icon. We have images here and there.

No, no, no. The cranium isn't a backbone, and there's no hub there, either. A hub is a center of rotation. Your C1-C2 intervertebral (atlanto-axial) joint rotates the (dead weight) of the cranium.
I think a tunnelling protocol must be involved somehow. Possibly involving neckbeards.
