HTML buttons on Edit Profile Page? October 26, 2012 9:26 AM   Subscribe

Small feature request: Can we have B, I and Link buttons in the Personal Info portion of the Edit Profile Page? It would make it slightly easier to edit that section.

My initial reaction is that I'm not sure people adding HTML to comments at the editing stage is all that consistent with the expectation that edits be kept to minimal typo fixes and such. I'm wondering what the use cases are for this, basically, that don't amount to "it'd make it less of a pain to add another thought/link to the comment I already posted".

Oh, yes please! I, too, would like this pony.

cortex, you have misread the question.

Brandon doesn't want to fancy up his comments, he wants to edit his totally always editable profile page more efficiently.

I have completely misread the question. Ha. Sorry!

Yeah, we could probably add those to the Edit Profile page.

I just wish y'all would bring back personalized profile pages, like Gator's and ThePinkSuperhero's. How many are left, anyway?

I would like a GeoCities template for my profile page please.

While we're on this subject, unicode on profile pages would be nice too.

NANGAR WE CANNOT ADD UNICORNS TO THE EDIT COMMENT FEATURE WHY ARE YOU EVEN ASKING THAT

what about pixies?

If your comments don't have pixels, how are you reading them? Now I'm confused.

They're developed in a dark room.

Aww, I was having fun editing it old school style. My profile is like one big wandering subject fpp. Every time I went to add parts, I'd highlight a word and remember, nope, gotta hand code it. I vote for leaving it the way it is, just so we can say we walked uphill in the freezing code, both ways.

Because.... unicorns.

Aww, I wasn't asking for unicorns. All I wanted is a little support for cuneiform.

Sure, got that added. (The HTML buttons, not the unicorns.)

Man, it was funny to keep this going in the background while reading today's other meta, though.

This isn't exactly a unicode pony request, but I can't seem to get the character & #1F40E; to show up properly.

When I do, I could use a combining diacritical mark to make it into a unicorn, right?

With that bolded and with whichever typeface I'm using to display this page, that totally looks like a joyful little hairy monster.

Unicode hex and decimal entities are filtered out, but you can just use the character itself.

Horse: 🐎
Horse + combining accent grave: 🐎̀
Hmm. How about space + combining zigzag above + Horse: ͛🐎
Almost.
