Thanks, y'all. This is a sometimes strange but always amazing job, and there's nowhere I'd rather work. And that's totally down to having such a fantastic group of people as coworkers and a wonderful crowd of folks in this community to do it for.

I was talking to a person trying to get a big product-review site off the ground, and I told him very firmly that his community needed moderation. And I know that because I hang out here.

Our mods are why I'm confidently able to refer to Reddit's comments as "a relative cesspool" when trying to explain Mefi to outsiders.

Yeah, I shudder to think what my Internet Experience would be like without Metafilter, and by extension, without the mods. Sincerest thanks.

Also, not to quibble, but--

I used to be politically moderate in my distant youth, and I've drifted so far from that stand that MetaFilter is the only place I can hear the term "Moderate" without getting upset. (And where I can accept my more immoderate comments being Deleted Without Prejudice)

Heh, yeah, it's been a weird day (I mean, a lot more than a day obviously but today we were really busy getting finishing touches put on stuff). I saw Rock Steady's post here come into the queue and you should have seen the cats scatter when I barked genuine laughter at the way things lined up.

But I love this place and I love my team and I love all y'all, and that's why it's worth it. And I love that "hey, thanks mods" is a normal thing here.

Wow - I had no idea, and wouldn't have seen this but for the link in the MetaTalk thread about Jessamyn's win.
And, I discovered I'd forgotten to update payments after 'issues' with the bank. Long story short - doubled monthly payments to this beloved community.
