Help Pick the Winning Door December 18, 2020 6:18 PM   Subscribe

At the childcare center I work at, we are having a Christmas door decorating contest. Please help pick a winner. The pictures and a link to the ballot are here. There are no prizes, just bragging rights until next year.

THERE ARE FOUR DOORS

I loved them all but had to pick #4 (ballot sent, this is imperative) because of blue and the santa. Now #1 I'd pick in a warm climate, Two for a rural setting, three for town, I like the red stripes. nice job.

Door #4, so festive!

Gosh, they are all so good! I vote Door #1, it's just so fluffy.

Not to be a 1980s self-esteem everyone-gets-a-trophy snowflake, but given that these look like little kids, I say give them each a different prize. "HANDsomest" for the one made of hands. "Hottest" for the fire one. You get the idea.

I like the idea suggested by If only I had a penguin. My favorite is #2, though.

These are amazing and this made my night. I also sent it to my friends so they can vote too. <3

All very nice, but gotta go with #1 for the inventive hand print flames.

I also went #1 for the hand prints and overall warmth emanating from the design.

I loved the second door! Cute idea!

All of them are amazing. I especially like the handprint tree, but Door #1 spoke to me the most.

I love the idea of inviting the internet into your work contest. This is all very cute.

These are all so creative! I love them all. Also, the adults who supervised with all the glitter that went into Door #2, they have my respect and sympathy.

Genuinely loved them all - voted #2, but truly would like them all to win. Such festive.

They are all charming! But I particularly love door #2 for all the lovely colorful paintwork, plus I'm a sucker for glitter. Thanks for sharing these with us!

Door #2...so clever with the hands making the tree and the presents at the bottom!. #1 is my 2nd choice :)

I had a little trouble voting for kid art (competitive so early. . .) but I also really liked Door #2.

The kids don't even realize there's a contest going on. That part's for the teachers (I'm much too competitive for my own good). I'm not even sure the oldest preschoolers would really understand what a "contest" is. The art is the fun part for the kids.

Gonna have to go with #1 -- all of them are good, and are beautiful explorations of the genre. What pushed #1 over the top was "these paper towel rolls are the logs for the fire." Re-use for the win! Also, who doesn't want to cozy up to a fire?

#1! But the voting form wouldn't let me select anything ...

I'm going to call the winner now since it's not going to change in the next couple hours.

Congrats to Door #1 (fireplace) by the preschoolers.
Door #2 (tree) by the infants came in second (second time in a row I've come in second)
And Door #3 and #4 tied. They were by the toddlers. Upon second look, I see Toddler 1 and Toddler 2 combined together to make the 2 doors.

Thanks everyone who voted! It was fun to share what our center did with the internet. And last year I feel like the one teacher who picked the winner was slightly influenced by the cuteness of baby handprints (< 1 year olds) as snow.

Also, I'm the adult who supervised the glitter. There is glitter all around my classroom and on the floor outside the door. My 13 month old helped me glitter all the hands. The other kids were too young to help with that. I used a combination of putting the hands (found at the dollar store) between 2 pieces of deli paper and letting them hit/smear the paint (also used for making the ornaments and lights), salad spinner painting and putting the hand in a container with paint and marbles and letting them shake the hell out of it. They are so funny when they paint. And they love it to death.
