MeFi post deletion query September 18, 2002 7:05 AM   Subscribe

noticed a link I posted yesterday was removed? why? It would be nice for any moderator or higher up to e mail someone telling why the link was removed

mediareport explained it's removal right in the thread. The usual reason is that it's a double post, as in this case, or that the link is substandard.

"Skippy! Skippy!! I've found another one...

Go tell Matt it's started again...."

Haven't been around long have you? There is only one moderator - Matt. If a thread doesn't pass muster, for whatever reason, he deletes it.

He's also the only guy that makes this possible, and he's a busy fella. He owns this place, and has no obligations to you or anyone else.

You've been rude and abrasive in a large number of your posts, and you've already been the subject of at least two separate metatalk posts of your very own. Have you read the guidelines for posting and being a member?

What Irontom said.

Yoda say: Rudeness, on top of substandard link posts, does not a good member make.

Have you tried emailing Matt? Usually he's happy to explain why he deleted a thread.

I am naming my next pet 'Hoopyfrood'.

Great name.

Then again, rudeness is a relative term, so realize that these few 'spokespeople' are hardly representative of MeFi's masses.

The correct, non-rude way to phrase any questions and concerns to the administration of Metafilter is this:

WHAT.
THE.
FUCK.
MATT?

(With apologies, Irontom)
posted by evanizer at 8:47 AM on September 18, 2002

No apologies necessary - I stuck my foot in my mouth, and will have to live with it.

However, after regaining my senses, I also tried to apologize to all and sundry for having been a jerk.

And thus a MeFi legend was born.

You should be proud, Tom, for inadvertently coming up with the funniest MeFi line since "pancakes" lost their magic. In my view, this certainly mitigates any jerkiness on your part!

Sounds like a request to me.

Now you know, hoopy. Go stand in the corner for a few days as punishment for not knowing the rules.
