The Ebbs and flows at this joint fascinate me. November 12, 2002 5:21 PM Subscribe
Am I just imagining it, or is there a lot less posting going on to Metafilter in the last few days. This is not necessarily bad, but the political threads are almost absent, and just the number of contributions is down. The Ebbs and flows at this joint fascinate me.
PP: I'm not a massive fan of political threads, and don't quite see how most of them fit the purpose of MeFi, in terms of pointing out interesting websites for discussion. Yes, there are many interesting political websites, but perhaps not quite so many as the occasionally fiery level of discourse on this site appears to warrant? IMO, of course.

It may very well be that everyone is apprehensive about Iraq, and now OBL...

I'm sorry. It's very, very late.

PP: Monday was Veterans Day in the US, a holiday for federal employees and a few others. Perhaps this is an indication of how much of our tax dollars goes toward surfing the web. ;-P

Maybe we're worried that this new FBI/CIA/NSA supercomputer spy thing is going to find all of us who post treasonous and seditious articles to metafilter about why we shouldn't attack Iraq.
Hey, maybe there is a bright side to this thing...

While I was composing my post this morning, there was only one post at 4 AM. Then when I submitted, there 3 posts in the span of 10 minutes at 7:20 while I was writing. I figured everybody just woke up and read their daily news.

I was going to mention this in Migs thread but deleted it, now I know to save it for the cycle of things.
It is the theme of things, as Meta has at times patterns. Notice that a well known subject will overflow into the following FPPs. The pattern I see of late which seems noticeable. Even the quietness that Mig spoke of seemed to be a nice short lived theme.
Try it, post a FPP on a popular subject then see what sprouts from it. Our new members are learning by example. It is the theme of things. Or did I discover a new way of baiting for future FPPs? No because Matt has asked for us to be moderate in our posts.
Now to figure a way to show a moderate rhythm of things in Meta-Filter. Yet how to create perfectness w/o knowing the future. Oh no need this is a self-policing community. Being an example is as close to perfection for me. Wait, I thought this was a parody a member did a while back, now this is the theme??!!?????
mischief & amberglow, very observant points for the pattern on Monday.
PS, the theme of more Meta-Talk is back.
