Neat! What exactly does the "currently online" tracker track? (Uhhh, this is new, right? I'm not confused?)

I just noticed it today as well. I guess it means people who have currently logged in, and have not yet either logged out on their own or been logged out automagically for inactivity.

Whatever it is, it would be nice if we could get a list of the names of those logged in. Then maybe we could keep a directory of AOL IM nicknames handy, and see if any interesting real-time chat possibilities come up...?

Wasn't Matt talking about some IM system or something in Metatalk a month or two ago? I can't find the link, and I thought he was joking at the time... but who knows?

I was looking at the IM code I have, and noticed I've had a current users online thing coded for months, so I decided to add it today.

I can do the list of people online, but it presents a new privacy breach, and I don't have an opt-out field in the db, nor have I built the option into the preferences page. I will do that soon.

The browser-based IM is coming soon. I probably need just a couple more hours of coding to make it public.

Y'know, I already spend a good 2 hours wading around Metafilter every day. With an IM, I'm never going to leave this site.

Digital crack, oh baby yeah.

You know, this is rapidly turning into an old school BBS with HTML. Keep it up!

Hmm.. this aim thing would be pretty sweet. Since I'm a looser with no life and spend most of my day here, I would *DOMINATE*. Bwaha-ha-ha! Would I?

Tiaka, it may be only 2 hours a day, but it's spread out all day. I challenge your rule, and I shall OWNZ J00!
