Builtin Search Metafilter Functionality Request March 14, 2004 2:45 PM   Subscribe

(I couldn't find my answer in a search of meta-talk) Are there plans to make ask metafilter searchable? I love the site and would find it a very valuable reference tool if I could search previous posts. It would also be cool if posts were classified by category.

AskMe is a subset of MetaTalk (at least at present), so if you use the "Search MetaTalk" link on this page, it will search AskMe threads.

Also, Matt has said several times that he's working on setting AskMe up as its own entity, with search capability and categories and other bells and whistles. It's just taking a little while. He's busy at the moment (which is also why the gray, and to some extent the blue, have been big bags of putrescence for the last couple days).

You could also do a search like "whatever-you're-searching-for site:ask.metafilter.com" on Google. All the MetaFilter pages seem to have very good Googlemojo in terms of getting indexed quickly and frequently.

Maybe an internal searching program could be recouped with, say, a one time $1 fee to use it.
