RSS for AskMe and MeTa? December 8, 2004 9:10 AM Subscribe
RSS for AskMefi and MeTa: Do they exist or am I just missing them? If they don't exist, can we have RSS-flavored ponies? If they do exist, can they be made more plain? How many past discussions of this topic have I missed? What other interesting facts will I learn inside? Fezzy minds want to know.
I don't think any sort of feed exists for MeTa, unfortunately.

Thanks, esch. Now I know to include a MeTa RSS feed when I go visit Santa this weekend. med3dia makes a good point too. I suppose I'll have to ask for a new barn now while I'm at it.
As for the AskMe feed, perhaps the pony-meister would see fit to including a link to it somewheres on the AskMe front page or in the footer. That way there'd be ponies for all!

Here's a quick tip for finding feeds (not necessary if you have any sort of browser/aggregator integration). View the source for the front page, and look for a line like this:
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="RSS" href="http://ask.metafilter.com/rss.xml" />
There is is!

Gosh! Thanks, grouse. I'll bet you were standing over my shoulder as I started typing a search using my google keyword bookmark but then said 'the hell with it! So much easier to just post to MeTa.' You know, Because these are so revealing. As are the about and etc pages. I suppose if you were to go searching for the search box at the bottom of the wiki, if you knew about the wiki, and hunt for RSS feeds you might your answer there. Then again, most sites with RSS feeds (that publish them knowingly--as opposed to those auto-generated MT ones) will link the feed in an easily discoverable way.
You may have noticed that I asked a three-part question; the third being that if the feeds exist that they be more prominently linked. I'll stop there so that this thread doesn't drift into the deeper waters of etiquette.

Admittedly at the time I was snarking I thought you were only being too lazy to use search. In reality it appears you actually do not know how to use search. If you searched for RSS on Metatalk (not adding a "Metatalk" keyword when searching Metafilter) you would have found people asking the same question as you over and over and over again.
Next time, to search Metatalk, use the "Search Metatalk" link at the top of every Metatalk page.
