1) When previewing a question, the text doesn't appear indented as it should. Also appears in an entirely different font family than anything else on the site. Something thinner and less rounded (sorry, it's late).

2) The 'best answers' sidebar is largely obscured by the reply box.

I think the text not being indented during preview is really a non-issue. And I have no issues with the font during preview. You should probably include what browser, OS, etc you're using if you want to narrow down these potential bugs.

1) might happen if you used a blockquote, threw in a paragraph tag or otherwise disrupted the CSS. I don't see anything in your question that could cause it though.

2) what is the width of your browser window? Are you saying the right sidebar and the comment box can't fit side-by-side?

related, please delete some of this - i have no idea what your system is doing. why can't it just work?

andrew, it looks fine in firefox, what browser are you using?

that was posted as:

<blockquote><p>it may be though ... not.</p><p>but to say this is...<p>...</blockquote>

in other words - it had several paragraphs within the blockquote that got mangled into one. it previewed "live" as separate paragraphs. and i scrunched everything together without newlines, but with explicit <p>s so there was only a single line between paragraphs. which also looked fine in live preview.

so there seem to be two possible related problems:
- paragraphs inside blockquote are ignored (to be honest i don't know if it's legal html, but it was used in an earlier answer to askme)
- there seems to be an additional <br/> inserted inbetween <p></p> (or something similar) even when there's no linefeed.

and then there was some weird caching behaviour... sorry for the intemperate reaction.

(ie. i'm using firefox and it looks to me like it looks to you, but that's not how it was intended to look, or how it looked in the live preview)

ah, I filter p tags out of comments, mostly because they break the CSS divs. Line breaks within a blockquote should be fine.
this is a test
yep a test

of blockquote line breaks

Paragraphs inside blockquotes are legal HTML and required in (X)HTML Strict.

1) nope, #1, just used straight text.

2) my resolution is 1024 x 768, and I alays have my browser maximized. The comment entry box was essentially on top of the sidebar, masking about half of it in height, and most of the width. sorry, I didn't take a screencap :/
