WTF is going on here?

Looks like an inappropriate comment to me. I reckon if you flag it, someone will delete it.
posted by anapestic at 9:26 AM on September 26, 2005

yeah I don't know what that was, but I cleaned it up.
posted by jessamyn at 9:30 AM on September 26, 2005

And now there's some other weirdness?

I smell a sexy mystery. Send pics.
posted by Divine_Wino at 9:44 AM on September 26, 2005

Hmm. I've actually been in meetings for awhile and hadn't seen the thread since posting until just now. What was going on? What was deleted?

We'll never learn if we don't know what is not acceptable.

There was one poster who was unhappy at what he/she perceived as the America-centricness of much of MetaFilter and went off for a few comments about it, with a few responses from others, none of which concerned hair or hard water. The poster had no email address listed and so could not be contacted. After his/her original comments were removed, he/she posted again and those comments were also removed.

Why is darkmatter's post still there?
posted by dobbs at 10:17 AM on September 26, 2005

That is odd. jenleigh is in Scotland, and the word "flat" should have been a tip off. Were these comments at all related to the post or poster?
posted by caddis at 10:20 AM on September 26, 2005

Were these comments at all related to the post or poster?

Short version: no. The one that stands out in my memory was something about the America-centric nature of MeFi (and not even AskMe), in a completely unintelligable way.
posted by Godbert at 10:22 AM on September 26, 2005

come hair or hard water
posted by matteo at 10:25 AM on September 26, 2005

matteo, are you recommending the use of semen to combat jenleigh's problem? If so, this is an inappropriate forum for that talk. Post it to AskMe. I'm going to post a callout over this.
posted by sciurus at 10:30 AM on September 26, 2005

Can I callout the callout?

Only if matteo came so hard he punched his mother in the face.

Very strange. I was thinking of posting a MeTa comment about it, but I figured it would be taken care of.

Thanks delmoi.

That was very strange.

Once again, the pre-14000s are ruining metafilter.

Let's talk some more about short hair on women. I like short hair on women. Why, I myself had a shaved head for ten years and thought I looked dandy.

Witty: I will continue to point and laugh and anyone who complains about the "America-centricness" of Metafilter.

You're supposed to make people smile/laugh, Witty. Or do you find people falling over large rocks in their path funny.

I'm not an American, which is why PocusHocus's contributions are even stranger, but neither is it accurate or relevant to argue MeFi is "America-centric". It's a site owned by an American with a huge American audience where English is the language of choice. Condemning it as "American-centric" seems kneejerk & silly to me. I frequent a few Russian forums whose contributors are almost entirely Russian and whose operator is Russian and whose topics often involve Russian politics, but I'd never accuse them of being exclusive — like here, anyone is free to sign up.

Metafilter: Ike the what your doing in Iraq.

I know. I know. it's another meta tag line. leave me alone. I never do them.

I love short hair, Specklet. I cut mine short years ago and it's brilliant. No fuss. And it looks cute.

Short haired ladies: excellent.
However, you can't have short hair without hair. Mrs Moore, please write that down.

Also: top lurkage! Check the profile numbers. What a performance; what a result.
