Remind me when I can ask another question March 7, 2006 3:26 PM   Subscribe

A pony: When AskMe says "you already asked a question this week", can it tell me the time and date that I'm eligible to start a new question?

Not that it's all that hard to look up my last question, but it would be nice not to have to.

Agreed. It would also be nice if people would stop posting MeTa threads to request exemptions, and maybe this would help.

One click away at "My Posts".

Oops, that is to say it will instantly let you know when your question was asked, add a week and your set.

My Posts defaults to 3-days for some reason. So it's two or three clicks away.

I think Matt has said that this is a passive-aggressive way to reduce how often people ask questions.

Someone give this Greasemonkey script a whirl. It'll put a timer on the bottom of the post-a-question page.

This is a good feature suggestion. All features are about collecting information and making it more accessible. Lazy bastards? Why not write that note on a napkin, drive over to your friend's house, and hand it to him rather than send an email?

WHY NOT SEND EMAIL TO ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS TO ASK THEM IF THEY CAN MAYBE REMIND YOU WHEN THE LAST TIME WAS THAT YOU SAID SOMETHING IN THIS ONE PLACE BECAUSE THEY CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO CLICK LIKE TWO TIMES ONCE EVERY MONTH OR SO IF THAT EVEN ETC

AND YES I TAKE YOUR POINT AND DON'T REALLY CARE IF MATT IMPLEMENTS THIS — THE REPEATED REQUESTS FOR SUCH AN IMNSHO SILLY NON-FEATURE JUST AWAKEN THE SLEEPING CURMUDEGEON

cortex: I didn't know that it had been requested before, multiple times. I just thought it was a good idea and a strange omission. Friendly, useful error messages and all that.
posted by evariste at 9:33 AM on March 8, 2006

Yeah, I know. It's not personal—that you requested implies that you weren't aware it had been requested before. What I said earlier about awakening the sleeping curmudgeon pretty clearly stakes out the pedantic and weirdly conservative ground on which my complaint, such that it is, stands.

So no sweat. YOU LAZY SHIFTLESS ETC AND SO ON
