"Ignore Thread" August 9, 2006 11:33 AM Subscribe
How about an 'ignore thread' option? That way people like this can ask for advice without people like this complaining about it.
Are you asking for a MetaFilter feature or a brain feature? If I didn't know better, I'd say the former seems unnecessary because the latter comes standard.

Seriously, calm down, all of you. It's like a fucking pre-kindergarden for schizophrenics in here, with big bowls of chocolate covered ex-lax and Adderal.

How about a 'needle and thread' option for those who would like to make MetaFilter a nice sweater.

Or a 'needle and spoon' option for those who would like to say goodbye with a slow, sad smile on their froth-speckled lips?

I'm just worried that someone is gonna pop a head gasket and pour a gout of blood and bile out of their nose all over the keyboard and then we'll get a chatfilter question about how to find a new girlfriend when you can't move half your face.

Hey, man, I'm not saying he isn't a goddam genius writer—motherfucker can pen a song, and that is not a debatable fact—but he has the sort of voice that forces people to be really creative when they want to say something nice about it.
"It has a lot of character!"
"It's an acquired taste!"
Etc.
Neil Young: great, great songwriter with an unfortunate voice. He uses it well, but it ain't pretty, ain't never was, ain't never will be.
By comparison, Chrissy Hinds has a voice that could devestate entire gym classes. Goddam.

I caught you knockin'
At my Meta door
I love you, baby,
But I clicked "Ignore"
Ooh, ooh, the damage done
I went to AskMe and
I lost my head
I watched the whining
Claim another thread
Gone, gone, the damage done
I comment here
because I love the Green
I know that some
Think chatfilter's obscene
Flag and move on
To keep the filter clean
I've seen the questions
And the damage done
Relationshipfilter is a loaded gun
And don't the worms
Think the corpse is fun?

Man, his stuff like "Helpless" with CSNY was fucking killer, and his voice added to it.

Aww, fuck that. They have gorgeous harmonies, strong songwriting, and were a fantastic thread between folk, rock and psychedelia. Wooden Ships, Suite Judy Blue Eyes, and yes, Helpless, are some of the best songs to come out of that era of music. Arguably the best supergroup ever.
