Wow, a Whole Week?
Over eight years ago, I asked a question about the relative frequency of MetaTalk threads over a stated period. I was just wondering if there has been any further observed data on lengthy gaps between sequential threads in that particular forum.
Deleting comments from MeTa
Hey, what's the deal with a joke comment being deleted from this recent MetaTalk thread? It was mild joke and I thought the bar for deleting comments from Metatal was much higher. I would ask in the thread, but when someone else did that, their comment was deleted, so here we are.
Everyone needs to respect what MeTa is for and remember to use it.
If something needs to go to Metatalk, it seems to me it doesn't need mods discussing it in thread while paying lip-service to the Blue/Grey distinction. If people need to defend their decisions, they can surely just direct the conversation here, not do what looks a bit like a drive-by on a Blue thread.
For the millionth time, you can't have your pony!
The good news: MetaTalk has over 1,000,000 comments as of today. The bad news: the millionth comment was apparently deleted.
MeTaIRL
Why do I keep seeing meetup threads on MeTa? Isn't that what IRL is for now? [more inside]
I make a hardcore tater hotdish
Twin Cities meetup [more inside]
metametameta
what's up with all the apologetic posts lately? since when did metafilter become a religious site where communal acceptance depends on strict penitence?
MetaTalk Comments Bug
Bug: Try going to a user's MetaTalk comments page (example).
If you click on the page numbers at the bottom, offsets don't seem to work. Therefore, clicking on page 10 should return comments 451-500, but actually returns comments 1-500. Presumably, if everyone who sees this clicks on page 109, and therefore requests all 5437 comments, the world will explode.

Moving to MetaTalk
Reading the thread about the eBay scam stuff, it made me want a new pony.
Wouldn't it be neat if when someone takes a post to MetaTalk (for whatever reason), that the original post be marked somehow (maybe similar to the "best answer" check-mark) to indicate that it had been brought to the other forum (by that I mean MetaTalk). This would make the whole MetaUniverseā¢ a more unified whole, more interconnected...
It'd also be entertaining for grouses like me who love to watch a trainwreck happen...

Total Comments in AskMe and MeTa
When looking at a MetaFilter post, the line under the description looks like this:
posted by too_many_notes at 4:56 AM EST (13 comments total) ( feature_request ) [!]
However, in both MetaTalk and AskMetaFilter the "(13 comments total)" is missing. I find this information useful in the thread. Could the green and gray be more like the blue?

Good FPP derail belongs in Metatalk?
After seeing this thread denigrate into a debate over the question of whether it was a good FPP or not, I started wondering: is a metatalk thread an appropriate vehicle for trying to divert etiquette debate out a blue thread even when the metatalk thread itself is likely to turn into a rehash of a zillion other metatalk threads?
MeFi user survey about MeTa topics?
How about a MetaFilter user survey about some of the ideas that have been bandied about in MetaTalk lately: recommending or rating posts, enforced posting delays, giving better posters higher posting frequency, etc.

MetaTalk Getting Crowded
Whoa! What's up with MetaTalk all of the sudden? Now we're getting multiple posts per day in several categories?! I count 12 (now 13) today alone. Is MetaTalk getting too crowded? The quality of the posts and discussion here is really going downhill. Remember when every post was on-topic, relevant, and well thought out? It just seems like posts are tossed up without thinking and comments get even less consideration. It's really wearing me out.
Is MetaTalk anyone's favorite?
Is anyone so hard-core into the community and MetaTalk that they actually start their browsing here instead of in the Filter? I may not be far from it. I find myself participating more over here.
Advice Threads in MeTa
Would anyone be interested in having a new MetaTalk topic where we could ask advice and opinions of each other? I am interested in buying a digital camera. This one in fact. I know many of you have digital cameras, maybe even the one I want. I would be curious to know what you think. We have tech people here who could advise people about fixing their machines, etc. What do you think?
New and improved Metatalk
The new and improved MetaTalk is now live. Feel free to tell me what you think about it, and bring up any bugs you find in the bugs area.
The old format was date based, like the weblog, but things discussed here weren't really date dependent. If someone asked for a new feature or highlighted a bug, and I didn't fix it in a week, the post was basically gone forever.
I think the new format meshes better with the way I'd like MetaTalk used - discuss and read topics based on the subject, instead of the date.

MeTa Archives
Bug: Go to Metatalk. Click Archives. Get 404. Curse wildly.
It's Alive!
I just made this live, and will be adding the About MetaTalk and MetaTalk archives later this weekend.
