Does anyone remember a MeTa about AskMe questions that really, really did not go the way the asker expected? I can't seem to find the post I'm thinking of. It would have been fairly recent, probably posted in the last year or so.

Why are there two places to click? Why does the "[more inside]" link point to the same place as the "XX comments" link?

Obviously we all love Metafilter or we wouldn't be here posting and reading day after day... But, if there was one thing you could change/modify about your Metafilter experience, what would it be?

We have
MyAsk. Why not MyMeta? How about a tab that filters by tags. Example: ignore anything with linux or politics. Keep anything with maps or art.

Is there any way of having an overlapping system of tags to categorize these MetaTalk posts? So for 'feature requests' that could be a sub-tag of either the 'Metafilter', 'Ask Metafilter' or 'Metatalk' tags. So when I want to see what is being discussed about improving Ask Metafilter I start by selecting that tag and then start clicking the sub tags to get more specific. Finally, the reason I am asking is because I am concerned about the flooding of questions on AskMe and the thing I would do is have a separate section for technology questions as those questions seem to be at least 50% of all questions asked. Cheers.

bug: can't submit an AskMe question. The final "post" button just reloads the page, like the "preview" button. Firefox 2.0.0.1.

Is it bad form to make a MeTa post that draws attention to a still open AskMe question I made a few weeks back that still remains unresolved and for which I now have new data that could help in it's resolution? Or do I need to bite the proverbial bullet and ask an entirely new question on the AskMe front page with a link back to the old question? I'll admit, I'm reluctant to do the latter because I'll now have to wait 2 weeks before I can ask another question, but I also want to see my question resolved. What's the consensus here?

(I am not a programmer so I have no Idea how hard this might be...) Would it be possible to have a link attached to each original posting in Meta and AskMe, that could be clicked by the reader to open all the links the poster included in their original posting, in Firefox tabs? I know this sounds lazy, but I thought it might be a neat feature...

lofi.mefi works for the main Metafilter page, but not AskMe, MeTa, etc. More inside.

Any chance we can get a +fave link on the front page for each item, especially on the green? (I'm thinking Digg-style, AJAX based would be very pretty, though potentially too Web 2.0 for the likes of some Mefites...)

AskMeFi should consider making a separate section for travel/location questions. Unless I'm going to be in London (Istanbul, Des Moines), I don't have an interest in the question or the answer.

dynamic.fmpub.net: It's come up before, and I know I can block it in my hosts file, but why does loading/rendering the entirety of Ask.Metafilter depend on contacting this site? When it is slow to respond, the entire site seems to hang, which should be avoided.

I'd like to stay logged out of MetaFilter and MetaTalk while staying logged in to AskMeFi. Is that too tall of an order?

It's possible for an AskMeFi poster to mark responses as best answers. It's possible for anyone to flag an answer as a fantastic comment. Why not amalgamate the two and have all the top answers in one place? Then, why not highlight all comments flagged as fantastic in AskMeFi, MetaFilter and MetaTalk the way best answers are currently highlighted in AskMeFi?

Metatalk thread closing is the worst thing ever. Just as threads are getting entertaining, the discussion supposedly somehow has ended. It never works; Either someone posts a new thread where the same discussion continues or we're just deprived of some funny comments.

I found a few browser-specific bugs with the new layout, is anyone else experiencing these?
1) The main logo for MeTa,MeFi, AskMe and Projects works fine, except when you click on the comments for a particular post. Once you do this, my browser is telling me there's a broken image above the main logo, to the left. It appears there's a missing border or something that usually would fit nicely into place to make all the images play happily together. (I'm using the latest version of IE.)
2) In Safari on my crappy preferences-locked Mac at work, the default text color on Projects is yellow main links, white background, with my text set to (of course) white. I'm willing to accept this is just a stupid Safari bug I'll have to live with, I just wondered if anyone else was experiencing a similar problem.

For the past week or so, Sharpreader has been combining Metafilter and AskMetafilter feeds, even though I'm subscribed to each separately. In other words, my Ask Metafilter feed (http://ask.metafilter.com/rss.xml) is picking up Metafilter threads, and my Metafilter feed (http://xml.metafilter.com/rss.xml) is picking up AskMe feeds. Things used to work properly, and I haven't changed anything at my end. Is anyone else seeing this?

How's about getting Live Preview for posting new FPPs on MeFi and MeTa? I think it would be even more useful there than it is for comments.

i opened ask metafilter and metatalk in two tabs in Safari 2.0, closed the AskMeFi tab, and (i think) clicked a link in MeTa, and the top frame is still AskMeFi green.
here's a link. looks like a caching issue obviously but i've refreshed and it's still there.

Time Zones don't appear to have
been mentioned much in recent times.
And I was wondering whether migration of time zone tweaking to MeTalk and AskMeFi would still be going ahead? I get so confuzzled down here at times.

When looking at a MetaFilter post, the line under the description looks like this:
posted by too_many_notes at 4:56 AM EST (13 comments total) ( feature_request ) [!]
However, in both MetaTalk and AskMetaFilter the "(13 comments total)" is missing. I find this information useful in the thread. Could the green and gray be more like the blue?

The HTML markup of Metafilter proper ("the blue") differs from the markup of Metatalk and Ask Metafilter. Given the upcoming changes to Metafilter's look, can we expect similarity in markup across the site, or should we explicitly not rely on undocumented features of Metafilter? [mi]

I want to pass on some info to someone regarding their expired (and kind of unfulfilled) AskMe question, but there's no email listed on his/her contact page. Is it within MeFi etiquette to post an open note here on MetaTalk for
nakedcodemonkey?

RSS for AskMefi and MeTa: Do they exist or am I just missing them? If they don't exist, can we have RSS-flavored ponies? If they do exist, can they be made more plain? How many past discussions of this topic have I missed? What other interesting facts will I learn inside? Fezzy minds want to know.

I've just started playing around with NetNewsWire Lite, and was wondering... are there RSS feeds for MetaTalk and AskMe?
I've been searching, but maybe I've been looking in the wrong place...
Thanks.

Can I post a link to a question on
Ask to the blue? It's not my question, so it's not self-linking, but it feels a bit too.... uh, meta.

Shouldn't MetaTalk, recently flooded (and, imho, diluted) by AskMe queries, be about MetaFilter alone and AskMe have a reflective sidekick of its own? [

The older and newer links in the bottom of MeTa threads are pointing to AskMeFi threads rather than MeTa ones. I think the plumbing's exposed.

Hey - if this isn't a new feature, or if I missed a memo, please tell me, but does each thread have it's own title now? I only ask because when I just thought better of posting to the "pancakes" thread and saw "Prattling On About Pancakes" up in the title bar, it startled me a wee bit, and now I see that each thread is similarly titled. New thing?
