The podium of the MeFi September running challenge is as follows : sequential (257k), caution live frogs (184k) and middleclasstool (156k). Sequential apparently could not choose between running and walking, in the walking challenge getting the best of shinypenny/longdaysjourney (242k) and fluffy battle kitten (51k). [more inside]

A MeFi bicycling challenge was mentioned here and if it was mentioned in other places as well, I apologize-- I couldn't find it. So, who is up for a bicycling challenge similar to what those wacky runners have going on? I am pretty sure we can use a website such as We Endure or similar to start a group and track our progress. 'Bout half as many as poured in for the previous water theme, but I reckon that's to be expected, sophomore slump and all. Meta Music filter. As a newbie, I was a touch underwhelmed by the recent song challenge. "The theme of water" seems so broad as to be kind of, well, boring. Why not 'love' or 'nature' or 'loneliness.' Might I suggest something a bit more kooky, esoteric, and actually challenging for the next one. Something along the lines of, "you make me touch your hands for stupid reasons." (via) Maybe nothing that gimmicky, but come on! Can't we do better?

The current MeFi running challenge is in its final days. I'll post the final results in a couple of days. I don't want to jinx it, but I might actually win this one...(Previous challenges : 1.0., 2.0.,3.0.,3.1.) We're already gearing up for the July distance challenge. I've sent a new invite to the current participants. Writing challenges, anyone? Would MF respond well to a weekly short writing challenge, perhaps posted on Fridays? Example challenge: Invent a new urban legend (in 50 words or less). There are no prizes, no scorekeeping, just for fun. Yes? No? Maybe? Try it?
