Pony request: We can already sort the posts and comments in search results by date or by relevance. Would it be possible (or even desirable) to sort by the number of favorites each item has? [more inside]

Pony: Unless I'm wrong, it seems that inclusion on the 'popular posts' page/rss feed is limited to highly favorited threads. Can we get threads with a lot of comments included on that page/feed as well, even if they don't have a lot of favorites? Or a separate page for that sort of thing?

It's possible to find the most favorited post of all time but is it possible to find the most favorited comment of all time? Or a ranking system that does something similar to the post system (week, 30 days, all time) for comments?

Why do we not want most popular comments from all time available, the way it is for posts? [more inside]

There is a single page that globally ranks comments across the three sites by number of times favorited, spanning the past seven days (link). There are individual pages that rank posts for each subsite by number of times favorited in the past day (AskMefi, Mefi, and Meta). Do there exist individual pages for each subsite that rank the comments most favorited within the past 24 hours — or even a single page that spans all three but ranks the most favorited comments in the last 24 hours?

I'm a little confused about the etiquette concerning favorites. I've had a few people tell me I favorite far too many comments, but I don't really see the harm in it. Is this something I should be worried about? Is there a compelling reason to curtail my willy-nilly favoriting?

Favorited comments not appearing on Favorites page. Ambrosia favorited this comment of mine, but it does not appear on my Favorites page. (It does appear on her favorites page.) Not sure if it's affecting the total favorites count.

On AskMetafilter, when people are logged out of the site, they can see when threads and comments have been favorited, and by whom. On MetaFilter and MetaTalk, they can only see when threads have been favorited, but not comments. This is kinda strange!

So now we have a visual indicator of how popular a specific post is. Cool. Could we take this one step further?

How about an RSS Feed that keeps track of when other people save your comment as favorites? Then you would never have to check that page manually to boost your self-worth.

On the pages listing contributions by a particular user that have been favorited, each column says "Displaying 1 through n [posts | comments]", but the number given is the number of aggregate times such contributions have been favorited, not the number of unique items that have been favorited, as the text states. In other words, if a user has had exactly one post favorited, and its been favorited three times, the text will say "Displaying 1 through 3 posts."

On the user profile page, the "# of comments marked by others as a favorite" is incorrectly worded. I think that the wording should be changed to something like, "# of times contributions by 'user x' were saved by others" instead. Or is it possible to snip the dupes and only include the unique posts and comments that were favorited (in the # itself)? I read this thread, but it didn't seem to discuss the language I'm referring to.

Can we please get rid of the '1 user marked this as favorite' crap?

How about a 'Best Comment' option on MeFi, similar to the 'Best Answer' option on AskMe? [more inside]

"Fantastic comments" make good reading. Why can I only read the last ten? Is it just a technical issue, or is there a worry that a permanent archive will result in competition?

(and if so, is competition that encourages people to write fantastic comments really such a bad idea?)

Pony, pony, pony. Everyone wants a Pony. Here's the one I'd really like: The introduction of the [!] is nice. But I am way more interested in seeing the best, most interesting comments than I care about bad ones getting taken out behind the woodshed. If there has to be a [!] could there also be a [!!!]? In my pony dreams this spits out to a page like the del.icio.us popular list. Or something like that.
