Dataviz ahoy!
While I'm not a fan of the plethora of infographics available online these days (and lame SEO attempts to capitalize on them), I decided to make a tongue-in-cheek infographic for MetaFilter, and as everyone behind the scenes at Team MeFi scrambled in the last week to gather up all the interesting statistics we could, I threw it all into photoshop to produce this: The 2010 Year In MetaFilter Infographic. Enjoy!

Posting Stats
Some metrics: 50,000 posts and 1.24 million comments since July 14, 1999 = 20.5 posts per day or almost one post per hour, 511 comments per day or about 1 comment every three minutes for the last 6.75 years.

one million pageviews in a single month
MetaFilter tops one million pageviews in a single month.
Stats for July barely squeak past the elusive 1 million mark, but the site finally makes it. I usually don't care too much about the stats (they're mostly done for the sake of curiousity with regards to referrers and bandwidth use), but I was amazed to see such a large number at the "requests for pages" total.
Thanks everyone for contributing and visiting.

April 2001 stats
Stats for April show average daily pageviews over 25,000 now, with nearly three quarters of a million pages served for the month. A typical day I grabbed at random from last week shows about 30k views on weekdays by about 5k different IPs.
February 2001 stats

November Stats
I hope this doesn't come off as pompous or anything, I just wanted to show everyone the metafilter stats for November. A few things to note: the times are in GMT, so they're 8 hours behind the real time (there isn't a 9am lull in requests, that's actually a 1am lull, PST). I started keeping track of bytes transferred about half way through the month, so the data transfers are off. 330,000 page views is pretty wacky though. As usual, the search requests are mostly disturbing. I don't want to meet most of the people doing those searches.
